The Heart of our Mission —
meeting needs with future planning
From the very beginning, this ministry has been about not only meeting needs, but also exceeding hopes. Rich Mulder, who toured existing nursing homes in the 1950s, responded by saying, “Our people deserve better than this!” Out of that vision, a ministry was born, the first licensed Christian nursing home in the Chicago area.
That unwillingness to settle for “good enough,” that commitment to excellence and innovation, that Godly belief that “people deserve better” — all continue to drive our ministry decisions. And fueled by the prayers and partnership of fellow Christians who share this passion for meeting our world’s needs in the name of a compassionate Christ, we continue to see possibilities and turn them into reality.
Quality Christian Care in a Home-Like Setting
Victorian Village Health & Wellness Center
Located in Homer Glen, Illinois
Our innovative solution to the problem of meeting skilled care needs in Homer Glen, Illinois, is to
develop a group of cottages where care can be provided in a home-like setting. The main building will offer 30 private rooms for people receiving rehab. Two other cottages will each offer 10 private rooms for people
who need skilled care and memory/dementia support. Providence Life Services is the first in Illinois to receive state approval for this new model of care. Construction began in December 2012.

Future Opportunities
Land Donation
Located in St. John, Indiana
A generous donation of land within The Gates of St. John will make it possible for Providence Life Services to expand the care and services we offer. In some cases, land donations are used as the setting for new communities and programs; in other situations, they help assure funding for long-term care or other needs. We look forward to following the visions God inspires, so that we can continue to respond in His name to the needs of the people we serve!
