Providence Hospice end of life services serving Illinois and Northwest-Indiana neighborhoods

The caring staff of Providence Hospice understand the emotions that accompany the final journey. While providing the necessary medical care, we also serve as compassionate guides and counselors along the way.

Providence Hospice services are available in your own home, in the home of a family member or friend, or even in a care facility. Our nurses and medical director partner with your own physician to provide comfort care.

We also recognize the ongoing pain of loss from a terminally ill person, and we offer bereavement support to family members. You can take advantage of our bereavement services from the day your loved one is admitted, up to 13 months after his or her passing. Our Hospice Chaplain ministers to patients, family members, and caregivers — one-on-one as well as in support group settings.

Your Providence Hospice team includes these professionals. All their visits are covered under the Hospice benefit:

  • Hospice physician
  • Hospice nurse
  • Hospice aides
  • Social Worker
  • Hospice Chaplain
  • Volunteer

Providence Hospice also covers:

  • Any durable medical equipment you might need — wheelchair, oxygen, commode, etc.
  • All medications related to your Hospice diagnosis

We are Medicare- and Medicaid-certified, and all services are 100% covered. We never bill families for care, treatment, or services.

You may choose to revoke Hospice at any time if you no longer feel the need for our services. But as long as you need us, Providence will be there — with you and for you.

THE PROVIDENCE DIFFERENCE
The Tree of Light Annual Memorial Ceremony
Annual memorial ceremonies are a Hospice tradition, though different Hospice chapters carry them out differently. Maribeth Anderson, Director of Providence Hospice, schedules a "Tree of Light" ceremony before Thanksgiving and Christmas. "Those holidays are so difficult for families when there has been a death. Our Tree of Light service gives them a chance to honor and memorialize their loved ones and diffuse some of that emotion before the holidays arrive."

LEADING FROM THE HEART
We consider it an honor to be entrusted with these sacred transitions in a family’s life. We take that trust seriously, and we handle it delicately. The letters and cards we receive from family members of clients we have served confirm that we are meeting a need and making a difference.
