Gerald & Dorothy Smeenge
Their apartment rings with the songs Gerald learned in the infantry — he still loves to sing them today. In fact, his clear tenor voice is one of the reasons Dorothy fell in love with him. He sang in a college quartet at Illinois Wesleyan, where she worked as the registrar.
Both Gerald and Dorothy earned their Master’s degrees and pursued teaching careers — he as an art professor, and she as a second-grade teacher and a speech professor. Jerry taught art for many years, but retirement to Sun City’s artistic community gave him his first opportunities to practice art of his own.
Today they share their knowledge and experience with friends at Royal Park Place — the perfect setting for these brilliant jewels.
