MINISTRIES OF PROVIDENCE LIFE SERVICES. THIS MONTH PROMISE NUMBER ONE
This is the Bible's first promise. It exhilarates us on this, the year's first day. Cryptic and brief, it contains the entire gospel, and forecasts the triumph of God's grace. Jesus Christ is the seed of the woman. He was bruised terribly, but triumphed gloriously. By faith in him and obedience to him, we may share his victory. Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ! Prayer | Fortify me, O God, body and soul, to run and win the race of life through the grace that is in Jesus Christ. Amen. Pray for Providence - December ALWAYS ON TIME
Mercy may seem slow, but it is sure. The Lord, in unfailing wisdom, has appointed a time for the outgoing of his grace and power; and God's time is the best time. Too often, we are in a hurry. The prospects of his blessing and intervention excite us and hasten our longings. Be assured, the Lord will keep his appointments. He is never before his time, and never behind. Prayer | Dear Lord, your mercy emboldens us to ask you to forgive our sins. Your grace allows us to ask, again, for daily bread. Through Christ we pray, amen. Pray for Providence - November GRACE ABOUNDING
Tiny birds seem to be all mouth when the mother comes to feed them. So let us take in grace at every door. Our human notions would lead us to ask small things because we are so undeserving. But, as a hymn says, "Thou art coming to a king, large petitions with thee bring. For his grace and power are such; none can ever ask too much" (J. Newton). Both asking and receiving, let us open wide our hearts to every means of grace. Prayer | Sanctify, dear Lord, these gifts, so that inspired by them, we shall serve you in the world you so love. Amen. A GOOD FOLLOWING
Not all at once, but by degrees shall we attain to holy knowledge. Our business is to persevere and learn little by little. And we should keep to our main topic -- not this particular doctrine or that, but the Lord himself: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This is life eternal, Jesus said, to know God. Prayer | Dear Lord, as you blessed with your sweet presence the home of Mary, Martha, and Lazarus, we ask you to be our guest at this table. Amen. |
