Providence Healthcare & Rehabilitation Services of Downers Grove: Our Story

Providence Healthcare & Rehabilitation Services of Downers Grove began providing skilled nursing care and rehabilitation services in 1984. Five years later, we added Saratoga Grove to the campus, which provides retirement living, assisted living, and memory care.

Today we continue to offer top-quality skilled nursing care accredited by the Joint Commission. But most of our clients come to Providence Healthcare & Rehabilitation Services of Downers Grove for our award-winning sub-acute rehab. We offer Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy from licensed experts.

When the COVID-19 pandemic began, Providence saw a gap in available services to patients who needed care, but who were COVID-19-positive. Many facilities did not accept COVID-19 patients at all, or if they did accept patients, they were not offering any extra services, such as therapies or life enrichment programs. In response to the need in the community, on Monday, April 20, Providence Life Services announced that a COVID-19 Recovery Unit opened at the Providence Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center of Downers Grove. Providence has admitted patients from states such as Wisconsin, Michigan, and Indiana seeking their specialty care.

But we offer more than simply physical care. We also offer programs that meet our residents' emotional, social, intellectual, and spiritual needs through our Life Enrichment program.
