Dr. George Shehata
Providence knows that older people are more susceptible to tissue wounds. Seniors are often less mobile (so circulation declines), and they may have other conditions (such as diabetes) that affect healing.
So we’ve developed a Wound Care program to proactively address the needs of aging adults. Dr. George Shehata directs the program. Wound Care at Providence of Palos Heights includes:
- Negative pressure wound therapy (wound vac)
- Lymphedema wraps
- Specialty mattresses and cushions, and other pressure-relieving devices
- Care for Stage I-IV wounds, diabetic wounds, arterial/venous ulcers, surgical wounds, new ostomies, and non-healing wounds
Dr. Shehata makes weekly rounds at Providence of Palos Heights and is available to our nursing staff 24/7. In addition, a specially trained wound care nurse is on duty 7 days a week.
