Walter has lived at Emerald Meadows for six years, enjoying all the benefits of living at an Assisted Living community. Whether he was taking part of one of the many social opportunities, enjoying the delicious chef-cooked meals served three times daily, or simply taking advantage of all the assistance he needed, he was happy and comfortable. His family visited often and became a close part of the Emerald Meadows family. “The staff are so caring,” Chris, Walter’s niece, says.
Of course, no one expected that a global pandemic would affect the life they’d all been enjoying. Chris and her family relied on visits through windows and the compassion and care of Emerald Meadows staff, who became the support system Walter needed when they couldn’t be beside him.
Chris is thankful that the people who took care of Walter were people she could trust. It was difficult for all of the family to be separated from each other, but Chris says that the staff was helpful and kind to Walter. Now that Emerald Meadows has recently begun to open up a bit, Walter and the family are taking advantage of that. “It’s so great to be able to visit in person again, and to see he’s doing well,” Chris says.
The peace of mind that the family feels has been worth the difficulty of separation. “He’s well taken care of here,” Chris says.
