Royal Atrium Inn

“I couldn’t think of a better place to live.” A Royal Atrium Inn Testimonial

Long before the pandemic hit, Linda Marshall was planning a move to the Zeeland area, and she was hoping her father Ed Gannaway would move with them. Ed lived in a lovely independent living community in the Ann Arbor area, but his need for assistance had increased, and they knew they wanted to keep him close. The family researched 10 different Assisted Living communities before finding Royal Atrium Inn.

“The people at the Atrium were so friendly,” Linda says. “It was homey and pretty, with plenty of spaces for people to sit and talk. I liked the Christian atmosphere and that there RPP_RAI_Ed_Testimonial_blog_Portrait_350x350.pngwere Bible studies.” After both Ed and Linda had visited, they made their choice, and Ed was excited about the move.

Then the pandemic hit. “It complicated things a bit, but it was still the place I felt most comfortable,” Linda says. “For a building like theirs to have zero positive cases, I knew they were being careful.”

Linda says everyone helped to make the move as smooth as possible, and for Ed to feel welcome, despite the social restrictions.
It was difficult for all of the family to be separated from each other, but Linda says that the staff was helpful and kind as Ed became used to his new home. “I was happy he had such a beautiful view of the pond from his window,” Linda says. “It was something pretty to look at during this new time.”

Royal Atrium Inn has recently begun to open up a bit, and Ed is taking advantage of that. “He goes to the sit and fit exercise class,” Linda says. “He’s meeting more people there, and we still video message him as much as possible.”

Ed is also happy he made the move. “Oh, I love it here,” he says. “The food is great, the staff is kind, my room is wonderful—I couldn’t think of a better place to live.”

And the peace of mind that the family feels has been worth the difficulty of separation. “I feel very fortunate to be here,” he says.
