TINLEY PARK, Ill. (March 2016) — Each year, we honor outstanding employees in an event called “Hallmark of Caring.” Providence people in various jobs are nominated by their co-workers, our residents, or residents’ families for their efforts throughout the year. This year’s 74 honorees live out our mission to “enhance the lives of those we serve in the name of Jesus Christ,” and demonstrate excellence in skill, work ethic, and compassion. Employees will be added to the list below until the event on March 11 — look for updates here and on our Facebook pages. Join us in congratulating the honorees! Honorees from Park Place of Elmhurst: Stephanie James, CNA – Skilled Stephanie is extremely compassionate and always has a positive attitude. She makes an extra effort, like coming in early to shampoo a resident’s hair because they cannot extend their head in the shampoo bowl in the salon. She also shows initiative by leading restorative exercises with our residents. Angela Bianchi, CNA – Skilled “When Angela’s here, you know it’s going to be a good day.” This was said by a client who has a great appreciation for her. That’s because Angela is always cheerful, takes pride in […]
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (July 2015) — Beautiful flowers have been blooming all summer at Emerald Meadows, thanks to a generous donation from Bos Greenhouse and Farms. Cheryl Edge, a foster daughter of Dorothy and the late Bill Bos, Sr., lives at the community. Before he passed away, Bos, Sr., told the family to give Edge – who has been diagnosed with dementia — anything she wanted. And since she had grown up around the flowers and loved the farm, the family decided it would be good for her to see something familiar. “We thought it would be good therapy for Cheryl,” said Gerald Mercer, whose wife, Deb, was also a foster daughter in the Bos family. “We thought it would be good for the other residents who enjoy flowers, too — it brightens their day.” Last year, it was Emerald Meadows staff members who filled the grounds with flowers, but this year, they left the job in the capable hands of the Bos and Mercer families. Gerald and his sisters did much of the planting, using more than 25 flats of donated flowers, in all colors and varieties. This was not the first donation Emerald Meadows received from Bos Greenhouse — they also provided […]
TINLEY PARK, Ill. (March 2015) — Providence Life Services hosts the Hallmark of Caring event each year in March to celebrate outstanding employees whose skill and heart make them essential to the ministry. Staff, residents, and families at each location and involved with each division of Providence nominated people who make a difference, and those who were selected were invited to a celebration on March 20. This year, the theme of the event was “Reflections of Grace,” expressing how each honoree is a picture of God’s grace to those they serve. Nancy Laurinaitis, an activities assistant at Park Place of Elmhurst, was one of 70 honorees this year. “It’s a great group of people here,” she said. Nancy was one of 11 recipients representing Park Place, but she wished she could have taken her whole activities team along as well. “I’m very proud to be part of the group at Park Place of Elmhurst,” she said. “I see every day what kind of care we have, and I think that the staff should be recognized for what they do.” Honorees were treated to breakfast and lunch at the corporate office in Tinley Park, and in between, they attended three speaker sessions. October is Pastor Appreciation Month, and we took advantage of the occasion to ask Providence residents about their pastors. We put together this video to express appreciation for the work of our own chaplains, as well as the support of pastors from surrounding churches who bless residents of our communities with visits, prayers, and spiritual support. Thank you!
