Hallmark of Caring honors Providence employees

TINLEY PARK, Ill. (March 2016) — Each year, we honor outstanding employees in an event called “Hallmark of Caring.” Providence people in various jobs are nominated by their co-workers, our residents, or residents’ families for their efforts throughout the year. This year’s 74 honorees live out our mission to “enhance the lives of those we serve in the name of Jesus Christ,” and demonstrate excellence in skill, work ethic, and compassion. Employees will be added to the list below until the event on March 11 — look for updates here and on our Facebook pages. Join us in congratulating the honorees!   Honorees from Park Place of Elmhurst:   Stephanie James, CNA – Skilled Stephanie is extremely compassionate and always has a positive attitude. She makes an extra effort, like coming in early to shampoo a resident’s hair because they cannot extend their head in the shampoo bowl in the salon. She also shows initiative by leading restorative exercises with our residents.     Angela Bianchi, CNA – Skilled “When Angela’s here, you know it’s going to be a good day.” This was said by a client who has a great appreciation for her. That’s because Angela is always cheerful, takes pride in […]

Providence of Zeeland attains Gold Seal

ZEELAND, Mich. (June 2015) — Providence Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center of Zeeland has earned its first Gold Seal of Approval® for accreditation from The Joint Commission, demonstrating a commitment to excellence in care. “The Joint Commission is all about quality — quality care and quality outcomes,” said Rick VandenBerg, Providence of Zeeland administrator. “The residents and their families can have an extra level of comfort knowing that the building has gone through extra steps to ensure quality.” An independent, not-for-profit organization, The Joint Commission holds health facilities to a high standard, going far beyond what is required by the state in all areas of care. The Joint Commission’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Accreditation program was established in 1966 and today accredits nearly 1,000 organizations offering nursing and rehabilitation services. Providence of Zeeland underwent a rigorous, and completely voluntary, on-site survey to obtain the Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Accreditation. The survey included evaluations for compliance with standards of care related to advanced rehabilitation services, health care quality, patient and resident safety, infection prevention and control, leadership, and medication management. “This isn’t something that a lot of facilities take on, but I see it as another thing that sets us apart,” VandenBerg […]

Providence of Zeeland first in Michigan to use Bionic Leg

ZEELAND, Mich. (February 2015) — We have the technology — and now it’s in Michigan. Providence Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center of Zeeland (Mich.) is now using the AlterG Bionic Leg to help clients
get moving again — and it is the first rehab center in the state to have this technology. Providence of Zeeland joins its sister rehab centers, Providence of Palos Heights (Ill.) and Downers Grove (Ill.), in using the new wearable robotic trainer. The Bionic Leg is activated when the patient shifts weight, and it provides support to help patients naturally re-learn how to use an injured limb.
