For over half a century, Clara Togtman of Orland Park has been a loyal Providence supporter. She has sewn items for residents, volunteered time with churches who visited communities, and generously remembered Providence with financial gifts ever since the first Providence community was built. So when, at age 102, Clara Togtman decided it might be time for her to move to an Independent Living community, the logical choice was Victorian Village—even during 2020, when the coronavirus was at its most active. After a fall broke her pelvic bone, Diana Nicholson was in so much pain that she barely remembers her week-long hospital stay, nor does she remember much about coming to Park Place Health & Wellness Center for rehab. “The pain was so bad that I can’t even describe it” Diana says. But she kept fighting. “I just knew that I needed to stay alive for my family.” …

A very special collaboration took flight mid-pandemic and resulted in 1,000 crafted Wings of Hope, which is the name of the latest exhibit at Park Place of Elmhurst. Park Place Life Enrichment Director Lisa Stoik had a vision to connect residents and their families by folding origami birds, and it was a fluttering success. …
