Victorian Village Awarded Gold Seal of Approval

the joint commission gold seal of approval

(November 2019) Victorian Village Health & Wellness Center of Homer Glen was recently granted re-accreditation as a Nursing Care Center from The Joint Commission, earning the prestigious Gold Seal of Approval,® as well as a special certification in Post-Acute Care. The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a health care organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.

Joint Commission reaccreditation is yet another validation of Victorian Village’s commitment to excellence in care. An independent, not-for-profit organization, The Joint Commission holds health facilities to high performance standards, going far beyond what is required by the state in all areas of care.

“Achieving Joint Commission accreditation is not mandatory,” explains Megan Tengerstrom, Vice President of Operations. “But Victorian Village – like all of our Providence skilled nursing facilities – is happy to undergo this voluntary survey. It’s important to us that our residents and families can rest assured that our team has taken extra steps to ensure the highest levels of quality and safety.”

The accreditation was received following a rigorous, three-day site review. During the visit, The Joint Commission’s surveyor evaluated Victorian Village’s compliance with nursing standards of care, emergency preparedness, and environment of care in the skilled nursing setting. To earn the Post-Acute Care certification, Victorian Village demonstrated exemplary practice in care coordination, discharge planning, and post-discharge follow-up. The Joint Commission also reviewed all policies and human resources records, interviewed residents, and conducted observations of staff members providing direct patient and resident care.

“Our team is honored to receive this endorsement of the quality work we are doing, from the most respected standards-setting body in healthcare,” said Frank Guajardo, Executive Director. “The involvement of our staff was vital to the success of this survey. To us, this award is really an affirmation of what we’re already doing – providing day-to-day delivery of safe, high quality care.”
