“It’s a good place to be”

Harriet Boerman has called Royal Atrium Inn her home for over eleven years. After experiencing a stroke, she and her husband decided to move into the community together. They first shared a large, one-bedroom apartment before Harriet eventually moved into her current room.
What Harriet appreciates most is the peace of not having to worry about household work. She enjoys the community’s relaxing rhythm—spending time in church, attending Bible study, playing games, and participating in sit-and-stretch classes.
Originally from a farming background, Harriet believes a strong work ethic is something you carry with you. Now, she’s grateful for a place that supports her independence while still feeling like home. As she says, “It’s a good place to be when your own home becomes too much.”
