Though they came from different parts of Chicagoland, Tracy and Lenore’s friendship flourished after high school. They married, started families, and raised children. Some weekends were spent together at a shared vacation cottage in Indiana, boating, water skiing, and making cherished memories. Their husbands, too, formed close bonds, making their friendship not just about two individuals but two entire families growing together. The families celebrated weddings, grandchildren, and countless milestones together.
For Lenore and Tracy, moving to Victorian Village was a natural choice. After Tracy lost her husband, her son-in-law encouraged her to explore Victorian Village, knowing it would provide the sense of connection and care she needed. Shortly after that time, Lenore, who had family nearby, also decided to move. The presence of familiar faces, a welcoming Christian community, and the staff’s support reassured them that they had made the right choice.
The Christian foundation, her friends, and the activities make a difference for Lenore. “It was important for me to be in a place that values faith and provides opportunities for worship and fellowship,” she said.
“I didn’t like living alone in my home,” Tracy shared. “Here, I can socialize when I want to or sit in a cozy corner and always find someone to talk to.”
At Victorian Village, Lenore and Tracy have discovered multiple opportunities to stay engaged, form new friendships, and continue their lifelong passions.
They still sing occasionally and enjoy creative activities like the card-making club, where residents craft beautiful handmade greeting cards for birthdays, condolences, and special occasions.
The friends stay active with bingo, social groups, and visits with the chaplain, ensuring their faith remains central to their lives.
But beyond the activities, the heart of Victorian Village is the support residents receive.
When Tracy faced a health scare, doctors told her children she had only a few hours to live-but she miraculously recovered. With the care, therapy, and medical support available at Victorian Village, she regained her strength and continued living a full life. “God was at my side,” Tracy said.
Similarly, when Lenore recently battled pneumonia, she was grateful for the on-site home health care services that provided her with the therapy and support she needed to heal. “Living here is a blessing because you can have care. The doctor and nurse practitioner that come here are very helpful.”
For Lenore and Tracy, Victorian Village is more than just a residence; it’s a home where friendships thrive, faith is nurtured, and residents are genuinely cared for.
As Lenore put it, “God has been by my side through every challenge, and I see His work in bringing me here. I’m thankful for all that we have.” Lenore has 3 children,
9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Tracy has
3 living children, 14 grandchildren, and will soon have
37 great-grandchildren.
